In a trans-European collaboration coordinated by Artichoke three artists were comissioned to create a lightwork to create a unique programme of work shared across three international light festivals: Skyway in Poland, Valgusfestival in Estonia, and LUMIERE in Durham. The three artists, Simeon Nelson (UK), Dominik Lejman (Poland) and Leonardo Meigas (Estonia), collaborated with a scientist to develop their lightwork and all three works explored both the scientific and aesthetic aspects of light. Lux Scientia culminated in a symposium in February 2012, hosted in London. The project received funding from the European Commission’s Culture Programme.
