Meeting Bogna

Last 29th May, happy meeting with Bogna Swiatkowska from Bęc Zmiana Foundation in Venice, for the double opening of the IN/VISIBLE CITY exhibition: Invisible City at Calle delle Colonete, and Simple Stories at Cannaregio 4947/A, Corte del Lovo. In partnership with the Biennale Urbana, a dynamic organization currently activating, through projects, educational paths, art and cultural productions, urban transformation processes and discourses on marginal aspects of the most beautiful of the cities.

Brunching with the boys!

Wojciech Mazan and Rafał Śliwa, young and brilliant architects from PARERGA studio. Simple Stories, at Fontego de Polacchi (!) is a sweet surprise of a show. Great mix of conceptual precision, Humanist vision and strategic wit. In a most sensitive (non-lit) display, it has translated something utterly Polish – the Ogrody działkowe (Polish allotments) – into a model for urbanistic innovation for the context of Venice. Special thanks to Bęc Zmiana Foundation.

Encountering Paul

Amazing, to meet one of my heroes in… Venice. Not at all too far from San Marco, and definitely very close to my heart. Paul Ardenne, critic, curator, writer, rules, book after book, conference after conference. Just take a look at this quote.

PERIFÉRICA designates the cycle of seminars organized by Anda&Fala – Cultural Association, in conjunction with Walk&Talk and with the support of EFA – European Festival Association.

The seminar assumes the territory and transforms the “Azores” context into a starting point for a discussion on the relationship between center and periphery. It arises from the need of a growing theorization and discussion on contemporary artistic creation in the Azores, territorial geo-tagging through artistic content and creative tourism opportunities and international exchanges.

The first seminar brings together eight speakers around “New artistic centralities”. It is a panel with projects from 5 countries that support the emergence of a new geo-cultural map.

Meeting Joaquim

With Joaquim Paulo Nogueira, creating a space for the public sphere to meet the community.

Baltic Light Chain final conference

Baltic Light Chain – connecting Tallinn, Vilnius, Riga, Gdansk – was all about encounters. Wonderful complementary visions of Light and the City, Art and Festival. In the photos, with Gisella Gellini from Milan and Ilkka Paloniemi, from Helsinki. Particularly impressive were the talks by Marco Brianza and Dominik Lejman, lesson in how art can establish with Technology and the City a deeper dialogue than what we are used to witness. Other brilliant participants were Bettina Pelz and Johanna-Mai Vihalem, all fantstically ‘orchestrated’ by Diana Civle and our friends from Riga, not forgetting Indrek Leht from Tallinn’s Lux Matrix.
