With Billy Bragg conspiring for democracy in the backstage of FMM ‘2016. Older but that not much wiser! This concert in Sines was more like a moving sung lecture in humanism and politics, poetry and life. Including a haunting I Ain’t Got No Home (Woody Guthrie). Truly dialogical and context-fueled – the apparently superficial jokes about the (bad) weather and the bunch of hippies who won over England in the Euro… fully developed into deeper reflections about… the Brexit and cultural difference -, the concert was about sharing the naked truth of the songs’ lyrics. It would lead local radio station commentators to a verdict: one of the top five concerts ever of the Festival in almost two decades. I was there.
